Job description

Job Name: Residential ducted system installer / technician (Northern Tas)

Job Format: Launceston full time but with flexible hours, nominally working 7.30am to 4.00pm, start ASAP, working in a two- or three-person team. Some travel and overnight stays required.

Suitable for: Competent trade assistants or labourers familiar with common power tools (or with prior ducting experience), as well as experienced handymen or trades persons.

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Location: Invermay as a depot base, with the majority of the work day spent onsite at different customer residences in northern or NW Tasmania. Some travel throughout the state may be required from time to time.

Remuneration Package: Base hourly award rate plus superannuation, with a completion fee per team for a successful installation of a HEG ducted air circulation or transfer system (2 installs per day is typical) or insulation installed. Overtime is rarely required, but the install bonuses are used to compensate for any extra effort that is required or you wish to contribute to maximise returns. Upsell bonuses also apply where additional sales opportunities are identified onsite. A work vehicle provided for business hours use, so a valid C-class license is required. Accommodation for regional work is provided and a living-away-from-home allowance is paid.

Position Description: HEG has refined the craft of ducted air circulation systems, ducted air transfer systems and ducted heat pumps (air cons) over the past 13 years, installing hundreds of systems throughout Tasmania each year. This position is a hands-on position, and involves technical installations of HEG ducted systems and working within a 2 (sometimes 3) person team. You will have responsibility for implementing the HEG ducted products to a high level of quality within residential dwellings, and will be given training in how to design, implement and service the systems. Some travel may be required, including overnight stays from time to time.

Classroom and on-the-job training is provided, and ongoing support is available by our experienced, long-term, internal team members. Installations are subject to quality inspections and feedback sessions to ensure adherence to standards and continuous improvement. HEG is a dynamic, enthusiastic and competitive company in a fast growth phase, and we consider our installation teams to be professional service technicians. Dropsheets and vacuum cleaners form part of our essential toolkits, and we encourage a relaxed, friendly and flexible work environment. Work outside regular hours is sometimes required depending on customer requirements, job duration and location.

We are expanding into the motorised roller shutter space, so installs of those will be expected in due course. Also, when ducting systems are bundled with ceiling insulation at the same house, it may be a requirement to lay insulation, also.

Mandatory requirements:

Manual Drivers License, C-class. Fully valid and operational for immediate use. Be able to ensure a professionally-executed, customer-focused outcome in conjunction with the team leader and team mates. Available for short term commencement. Experience in the construction industry (formal qualifications, apprenticeship, or equivalent trade experience) is desirable. The position involves ladder, ceiling cavity and some roof work. Expertise with standard power tools is a big help. A friendly disposition and a great attitude will make you fit into the supportive HEG culture.

The main HEG products include Ducted Air Circulation Systems (with a variety of optional modules and varying configurations), lifting of sheets for access and sub-floor ventilation ducting.
