Integrated Transport Planning and Design

The position sits within the Integrated Transport Planning and Design department. The primary focus of this department is to plan, manage and design the region's integrated transport network consistent with Council's corporate strategic vision, policies and strategies.

About the Opportunity:

As our Technical Support Officer Traffic Engineering you will be joining a close knit and dynamic team.

You will provide technical input and support into the investigation, planning, analysis, design and development of solutions to customer enquiries relating to road safety, traffic management and transportation issues.

As this role works closely with our community you will be engaging proactively with key stakeholders including Council’s elected members to ensure a service deliverables and best value integrated transport outcomes are achieved in line with Council’s long term strategic vision.

In addition, you’ll:

  • support the development of innovative solutions-based outcomes that integrate transport, water sensitive design, streetscaping and urban design outcomes within the public realm and which interface with private spaces that are context sensitive and consistent with “Complete Streets” principles
  • provide technical input and support into the development of transport concept plans that respond to user needs and are consistent with council’s strategic principles and policies; including transport plans to encourage walking and cycling and transport corridors and intersection concept plans and design briefs

About you:

We are seeking someone who has well developed knowledge and experience in traffic planning and design and the ability to apply written communication skills to provide technical reports that meet client needs.

You will have demonstrated investigative, analytical and research skills with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings associated with integrated transport, infrastructure and land use concept plans and designs.

You will be solution focused with excellent people and relationship management skills with the ability to work in a positive team environment communicating and engaging effectively at all levels.
