Position Summary:

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Trainee with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centered care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to deliver anaesthesia, pain management and perioperative care at St Vincent’s and its secondment hospitals. The St Vincent's Hospital Anaesthetic Department delivers over 8,000 anaesthetics per year. In addition, services are provided to Cardiothoracic Transplantation, Intensive Care, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Access, Acute Pain and Outpatient services. Rotations include St George Hospital, The Royal Hospital for Women, The Children’s Hospital Westmead, The Wollongong Hospital and Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. Appointees must be prepared to rotate to all the above hospitals and participate in after-hours rosters.
Positions are accredited by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Applicants must have at least three years hospital experience.

Selection Criteria:

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
2. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia have at least 3 years post graduate full time hospital experience, with recent experience in clinical anaesthesia and excellent references from the Head of Department or Supervisor of Training.
3.Demonstrated independent clinical excellence, sound judgement and expertise in a complex clinical environment.
4.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and peers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
5.Comprehensive understanding of the requirements of the ANZCA training program; willingness to participate in the after-hours roster and rotate to seconment hospitals.
6.Demonstrated commitment to developing nontechnical skills including conflict management.
7.Evidence of quality assurance, research and teaching activities undertaken.
