Our client is the leading global company for industrial coating resins, crosslinkers and additives and it is currently seeking to hire a Trainee Chemical Plant Operator based in Botany.

Responsibilities:
Operate kettles, blenders, other ancillary equipment, plant services to produce products per schedule/supervisory instructions using given formulations, manufacturing instructions or other authorised instructions from technical and supervisory staff
  • Troubleshoot as required and take prompt corrective action - notify supervision if cannot resolve
  • Source, prepare and store raw materials appropriately
  • Test raw materials, in process batches and finished product as required
  • Train other team members as accredited
  • Maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards
  • Maintain safe and environmentally compliant practices in all facets of operation
  • Initiate maintenance work requests. Issue work permits as required after appropriate training and authorisation
  • Ensure all batch documentation and recordings, charts, other forms and documents are filled as required and filed to established routines
  • Compliance with Return to Work and Injury Management procedures
  • Ancillary activities including equipment checks: forklifts, environmental checks
  • Drive continuous improvement at all times
  • With the assistance of the Leading Hand(s)/Team Leader(s), diagnose problems in the plant or process and initiate corrective action. Consults with shift team to recommend improvements and see they are carried out as agreed
  • Accept personal responsibility to ensure all company policies are adhered to including contribution to a safe workplace and compliance with EEO program.
  • Other ad hoc projects or requests as directed by Manager
Experience:
  • Experience in a similar role is desirable
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods Regulations and Quality systems desirable
  • Forklift license an advantage

  • Ability to work with computer systems
