About the role
Councils Waste & Recycling Services Department is looking for an Education Officer who will be responsible for the delivery of waste education programs and promotions to the broader community. The role aims to change the attitudes and behaviours of residents regarding waste management and to improve resource recovery leading to a reduction in landfill. The position will work with local schools, community groups, businesses, residents and liaise with other internal and external stakeholders. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the development, preparation and delivery of various waste education programs, events, information and promotions to the Frankston City Council community.
  • Assist with the development of marketing, communication materials and promotional tools
  • Assist with the implementation of the Waste Circularity Masterplan
  • Working with collection and processing service providers to minimise contamination

About you
Essential skills and experience:

  • Relevant degree, formal qualification or some relevant experience, especially in the area of waste and litter minimisation, environmental education and resource recovery.
  • Experience in assisting with the development, implementation and evaluation of waste minimisation and litter education projects and initiatives.
  • Drivers Licence
  • Ability to conduct presentations to large and small groups across a broad range of age groups, children through to adult.
  • Administration and reporting experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritise work
  • Good time management skills.
  • Competent and experienced in MS office suite.
  • Effective communicator & team player.
  • Professional phone manner.
  • Ability to operate autonomously within a busy environment.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of, or experience in the Waste Management and Recycling Industry.
  • Experience in the preparation and delivery of presentations.
  • Experience or qualifications in the delivery of education or training

This position is a Band 5 currently remunerated between $76,859.89 to $88,285.93 per annum, plus superannuation.
