Please be assured that the services that Communities Tasmania provides to the Tasmanian public will be ongoing and dispersed between existing Tasmanian Government agencies and a new Housing Tasmania statutory authority. Period of employment / Hours:

Fixed term full-time day work (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation) commencing ASAP for a period of 2 years.

Primary Purpose / Focus :

As part of a Youth Justice Team provide operational and outcome focused restorative justice services in the community to clients who are subject to diversionary programs and legal orders.

Selection criteria includes:

• Ability to supervise, support, motivate and engage constructively with young people and act as a positive role model.
• Ability to impose reasonable limits and controls for young people and deal effectively with challenging behaviours.
• Understanding of adolescent development and the issues impacting on young people, particularly in the youth justice context.
• Note : - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for ALL the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.

Desirable Requirements:

• A Certificate IV in Youth or Community Services work.

Essential Requirements:

• Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution.
• Current Driver's Licence.
• Current Tasmanian Working with Children (Vulnerable People) Registration (Employment type)

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

• 1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  • a) crimes of violence
  • b) sex related offences
  • c) serious drug offences
  • d) crimes involving dishonesty
  • e) serious traffic offences (If Driver's License is an Essential Requirement )

• 3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.

As a result of a risk assessment process, the Head of Agency gave consideration to where vaccination is a necessary control to protect the health and safety of workers and the community.
