What you’ll be doing:
In support of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England’s mission, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for all internal employee relations as well as performing a broad range of Human Resources functions such as talent acquisition, benefits, and implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures.
Employee Relations – In partnership with the Vice President, Human Resources & Employee Engagement provides assistance related to employee relations matters
- Assist in employee relations issues and provides resources for supervisors regarding employment actions including but not limited to, leaves of absence, status adjustments, corrective action, wage adjustments and termination
- Serves as a resource for staff and managers as situations arise; coaches’ supervisors on addressing employee performance issues, ensuring consistent, fair, and timely resolutions of problems
- Acts as a resource for management regarding issues of employment law and provides written material and training sessions to ensure that supervisors and staff are aware of their rights and responsibilities
Talent Acquisition – In partnership with the Recruiting Specialist, coordinates the recruitment and hiring processes
- Serves as primary contact with supervisors to initiate individual job searches
- Composes internal postings and external job advertisements and places ads online, or other venues
- Routinely seeks alternative recruiting sources while using best practices to provide a diverse pool of applicants for all positions
- Receives and screens resumes and applications, ensures that they are sent to the appropriate search leader in a timely fashion, and maintains contact to ensure that the search is progressing smoothly
- Assists with screening and interviewing candidates throughout the agency as needed ensuring PPSNE is using our “race and” approach, so candidates are aware of the expectations related to equity and inclusion.
- Works closely with the Recruiting Specialist and the Senior Director, Medical Services to ensure all processes are in place to hire high quality licensed medical personnel, e.g., clinicians, registered nurses, etc., including seeking the best sources to identify candidates and engaging in interviewing as needed
- Conducts exit interviews with separating employees. Summarizes and communicates pertinent information to the Vice President, Human Resources & Employee Engagement, and department heads as appropriate
- Tracks staff turnover quarterly and otherwise as needed
Employee Benefits and Compensation – In partnership with the Benefits Specialist coordinates the benefits and compensation programs
- In partnership with the Benefits Specialist, assists in the benefit enrollment process to ensure that benefits are offered fairly and consistently and that employees are well informed of their options
- Acts as point of contact for new and current employees regarding questions and concerns about PPSNE's benefit package
- Familiar with PPSNE’s wage structure, practices, and policies. Ensures that pay is maintained in accordance with established policy
- Ensures that all compensation and benefit-related data for each employee is current, managed confidentially, and accurately
- May orient new hires to HR-related policies and practices. Provides a positive introduction to PPSNE’s culture
- Prepares employee termination paperwork and coordinates COBRA requirements with providers
- Ensures that all employment-related documentation is completed appropriately
- Handle employee accident reporting and works with Workers Compensation carrier on all work-related injuries and related expenses and compensation
Equity and Belonging - Assists in the development and implementation of agency equity and belonging programs
- Establishes networks and collaborations to ensure diverse applicant pools
- Interested in expanding your analysis and knowledge about the role that racial inequity plays in our society, and are committed to building and/or deepening your commitment to racial equity in your work

- May assist in coordinating the agency’s bilingual fluency program and medical interpreter program to assess the linguistic competence of bilingual staff
Administrative Human Resources support
- Provides office support to the department to ensure the timely completion of daily administrative tasks. This includes producing accurate and professional written correspondence, acting as an initial contact person for general inquiries, generating and distributing department reports, updating databases, filing, and coordinating all meeting logistics, and planning for special events

- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong organizational skills required. Project management experience preferred
- Must possess the ability to work with changing priorities and simultaneously handle multiple projects
- Bachelor’s degree required. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP required

Salary Range; Min $60,114 Mid $75,141 Max $93,927 and is based on full years of experience.
