In addition to clinical pharmacy services for patients of Mater Health and a number of aged care facilities, we provide traditional community pharmacy medicines and retail products to patients, visitors and staff.

About the Position:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intern Pharmacist to join the Mater Pharmacy Team, commencing from 9th January 2023. This role will enable you to deliver a consistent base level of clinical pharmacy service under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist within Mater Health, to provide patients, carers and other health professionals with support and information relating to medication and as a member of one or more multidisciplinary teams ensure the safe, effective and quality use of medicines to optimise patient outcomes.

You will have the opportunity to gain broad experience in retail pharmacy, aged care and clinical services including neonatal critical care, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics, adolescent health, general adult surgical & medical wards, rehabilitation, neurosciences, intensive care, cardiology, haematology & oncology and sterile production services.

This role will see you:

  • Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the pharmacy team and by engaging in professional development activities in order to continually advance clinical skill level.
  • Participate in quality and service improvement activities including the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the Pharmacy service with the view to improving service delivery to all pharmacy customers.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively within the pharmacy team and during participation in multidisciplinary ward rounds to assist the supervising Registered Pharmacist to provide routine medicines information and advice in order to assist in the medication management of patients.

Salary range: $34.33 per hour (Health Practitioner Level 3.0) plus superannuation

To be successful in this role you must:

Progress to completion of a Bachelor or Master of Pharmacy Degree in 2022 from a recognised tertiary institute and be eligible for registration as a Pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) after 48 weeks supervised practice.
