This role is accountable for managing the delivery of all build artefacts effectively to ensure quality outputs. Provide technical leadership in design, development and deployment of QBE’s platforms.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Technical Lead responsible for maintaining quality and stability of the Data management solutions
- Working with the business and IT to develop plans and strategies in alignment with the strategic direction
- Work with the Principal technologists on upgrading the IT infrastructure to latest versions so the QBE has the latest and greatest of the technology infrastructure
- Oversight and direction of managed services partner resources
- Manage the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies
- Handle more complex issues and risks as required and escalate if necessary
- SDLC and associated methodologies followed
- Development processes undergo continuous improvements
- Issues resolved or escalated in a timely manner in alignment with SLA
- Ensure customer impacts are assessed and addressed in the design and delivery of solutions
- Proactively build and maintain strong and effective working relationships with key stakeholders
- POC and innovation effort towards upgrading the solution in place and thought leadership
- Complete impact analysis and ensure quality checks are performed
- Define the best practices in the designated technology area.
- Estimate effort for activities, reporting on progress and managing all activities within agreed budget
- Identify, communicate and manage risks and issues as they arise
- Support for resources implementing solutions according to project plan
- Perform leadership activities including performance management, mentoring and staff development
- Objectives aligned to business goal
Required Education:
Must have bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field
Required Experience:
8 years working with Enterprise Data programs and solutions.
Hands on working experience with Databricks, Python , Sql programming, MS Azure.
Preferred Competencies/Skills:
- Drive data digitalization and decommissioning efforts in various computing environments by leading the engineering and integration of new data administration, data architecture, and data engineering solutions for business units.
- Develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders to ensure new data technology solutions are fully aligned with business needs.
- Analyze, understand, and document business scenarios through business process flow diagrams, vision/scope documents, problem statements, and use cases to best support the big data technology needs of the business.
- Translate business needs into actionable data technology development processes by creating, communicating, and defining user requirements for the development of effective data technology solutions.
- Identify risks, assumptions, and requirements for business cases to assist in the selection of the proper data technology solutions.
- Lead feasibility studies to include competitive and cost-benefit analysis to ensure data solution will improve overall business strategy and outcomes.
- Serve as technical subject matter expert on both new and legacy data systems, playing knowledge-keeper on how systems are designed to operate, and how they facilitate related business processes.
- Approve technical designs and test plans/scenarios for data management system and ensure appropriate co-ordination of efforts that cross multiple data systems.
- Drive continuous improvement by assessing alignment of current data management systems and processes to business requirements and capitalizing on opportunities for standardization, increased efficiency, cost reduction, and business performance
Preferred Experience
Of the required experience, must have at least 5 years of experience in each of the following:
- Working with Mainframe systems, including IMS database
- Building data extracts using Python, Stored Procedures, and SQL
- Creating business and process flow diagrams using process modelling and diagramming software
- Working from end-to-end in software system and service development lifecycle and relevant milestones as it relates to project initiation
Of the required experience, must have at least 3 years of experience in each of the following:
- Providing database designs and solutions for software systems and services
- Creating ad-hoc reports using Power BI
Of the required experience, must have at least 2 years of experience in each of the following:
- Applying business requirement management methodology
- Building data movement processes involving ETL tools
- Interpreting existing code written on BASE SAS / SAS EG, IBM DB2, and Python
Of the required experience, must have at least 1 year of experience in each of the following:
- Working with Unix / AIX operating systems
- Working with Guidewire Claim Center
- IT vendor management
- Working with Guidewire Policy Center
Preferred Knowledge
- Working with Azure and creating data virtualization and machine-learning algorithms
- Insurance claims analytics using machine learning tools and techniques
- Working with Guidewire Claim Center
- Using full-stack AI / ML tools
