The Tweed Regional Aquatic Centres (TRAC) offer the community everything families need to maintain a healthy lifestyle, with facilities, equipment and staff that provide an extensive range of healthy lifestyle choices.
We are seeking someone who is outgoing and energetic and has a passion for swimming and water safety. You will be reliable, have great communication skills, a happy disposition and able to build a great rapport with our staff, parents, and swimmers.
This is a permanent part time position with a minimum of 4 hours per week up to 38 hours, based on a 7 day roster with your total hours of work determined by the weekly roster. Ordinary hours of work for this position fall between 5am to 11pm with hours worked outside of this on Mondays to Fridays attracting a 20% shift loading. Ordinary hours worked on a Saturday attract a 25% loading, whilst Sunday attracts a 50% loading.
About the role:
Our Learn to Swim Program Officer is responsible for coordinating the learn to swim and schools swimming program including:
- Teaching and covering shifts as required
- Training staff to deliver the learn to swim programs for toddlers, preschool, primary school and junior levels
- Assist in the development and review of practices and policies to ensure the successful operation of the learn to swim programs
- Administrative functions including placing children in classes, programming classes and communicating information on classes to parents
- Continuously seeking opportunities to grow and improve the learn to swim program

We are seeking:
- Hold a:
- Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (ASCTA / RLSSA/ Austswim or equivalent)
- Infants and Preschool Aquatics (ASCTA / RLSSA/ Austswim or equivalent)
- Current First Aid certificate
- Current Working with Children check
- Demonstrated experience/competency:
- Experience teaching learn to swim for 3 years and/or experience in a similar role
- Developing learn to swim programs for schools and various learn to swim user groups
- Administrative tasks and capacity to produce basic financial and attendance reports by manipulation of data in facility operational systems
- Conducting swim teaching and/or coaching workshops

Essential:
- Hold a Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (ASCTA / RLSSA/ Austswim or equivalent).
- Hold an Infants and Preschool Aquatics (ASCTA / RLSSA/ Austswim or equivalent).
- Hold a current First Aid certificate.
- Demonstrated experience in developing learn to swim programs for schools and various learn to swim user groups.
- Demonstrated competence in administrative tasks and capacity to produce basic financial and attendance reports by manipulation of data in facility operational systems.
- Demonstrated advanced customer service skills.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting swim teaching and or coaching workshops.
- Demonstrate competence in handling enquiries, complaints and minor conflicts.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating work teams or groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
- Current Vehicle Licence – Car.
Desirable:
- Experience teaching Learn to swim for 3 years and/or experience in a similar role.
- Coaching/Competitive Strokes certificate (ASCTA /RLSSA /Austswim or equivalent).
- Pool Lifeguard Licence.
- Qualifications and experience in delivery of other aquatic programs such as coaching, aqua aerobics.
