About the role

This position is responsible for leading key strategic initiatives and Council's integrated planning and reporting activities. You will oversee a corporate and professional approach to developing plans and strategies. The position is also responsible for communication and engagement activities across Council, and you will work closely with Councillors and as a member of Council’s leadership team.

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.

Hornsby Shire is home to approximately 150,000 people. The Traditional Owners of the Shire are the Darug and GuriNgai peoples.

About you

This is an important senior position within Council, reporting directly to the General Manager and sitting on the Executive Leadership team. Your motivation, presentation and communication skills will quickly earn you the respect and trust expected in this senior and influential role.

Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline or deemed equivalent relevant experience is essential. The role calls for extensive experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team across a broad range of functions.
