Do you possess a recent undergraduate degree along with an interest in a career in public health management? We are looking to develop future health leaders in Health Management who are well prepared for a rewarding and challenging career in Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) and the wider NSW Health system.

Where you'll be working
This role will be predominately based at Royal North Shore Hospital however you may be required to work at a different facilities during the two year program.

What you'll be doing

The program runs for 24 months, during which time you will complete three four-month placements and one twelve-month placement with senior Executives such as the Chief Executive, Director People and Culture, Executive Director Operations and Hospital General Managers. The Northern Sydney Local Health District Graduate Health Management Program (GHMP) offers a unique opportunity for enthusiastic, committed, high potential graduates wishing to step up to the challenge of a career in the public health system. Graduates are provided with an exciting opportunity to work at the leading edge of health service management, learning from our highly experienced and motivated senior health executives.

The program is conducted over two years commencing in February of each year. Trainees are employed on a temporary full-time basis within NSLHD and undertake a fully funded Master's Degree in Health Service Management through the University of Tasmania (UTAS).

Who are we looking for?

Graduates should be passionate, motivated and confident individuals who thrive on making a difference within the public health system.

Applications will be assessed based on a number of attributes including relationship building skills, leadership qualities, critical thinking and decision making capability and personal attributes such as acting with integrity and emotional intelligence.

In order to be eligible for the general program, applicants must:

  • Possess an undergraduate degree from a recognised university. Past graduates have successfully entered the program with a wide range of degrees including health related, psychology and business and science degrees
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Possess an undergraduate degree from a recognised University.

  • Demonstrate a high level of motivation and interest in a career in public health management.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills with an ability to influence others with a fair and considered approach and sound arguments
  • Demonstrated experience of project management, stakeholder engagement and delivery to tight deadlines, establishing project proposals, defining scope and goals in measurable terms.
