About John Hunter Hospital:
John Hunter Hospital is a tertiary referral, teaching hospital and a major referral centre for Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD). Located in the coastal city of Newcastle, we have one of the busiest emergency departments in the state and provide a range of medical and surgical services to a diverse population of more than 900,000 people. Our hospital plays an important part in the state's network of tertiary services, serving not just the local and regional communities, but people from around NSW. With support from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and NSW Ambulance, the Hospital also provides a retrieval service for critically ill patients from the Hunter and North Coast. The NSW Government has approved an $835 million investment in the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct project, with works due to commence in May 2022 for a new state-of-the-art facility scheduled for completion in 2026. The John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct will include a new Emergency Department and expanded critical care services (adult and paediatric); operating theatres, interventional and procedure spaces; a new birthing suite and inpatient maternity unit; a new neonatal intensive care unit and special care nursery; and a rooftop helipad and increased car parking with more than 900 spaces for staff and visitors.

We have immediate opportunities for ENs and/or RNs who have experience in REHABILITATION (particularly for patients following stroke, acquired brain injury and other neurological disorders - those with Functional Independence Measure / FIM accreditation highly regarded), MEDICAL IMAGING and X-RAY, EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, RESPIRATORY & IMMUNOLOGY (which includes high flow oxygen therapy and IV), OPERATING THEATRES (particularly for RNs - instrument and circulating i.e. scrub and scout nurses AND Anaesthetic and PACU), RNs in Maternity and Gynaecology Services (caring for female only surgical patients), NEUROSURGICAL AND NEUROSCIENCE (caring for acute patients with complex neurological conditions) and RNs with experience in COLORECTAL, UPPER GI and GENERAL SURGERY.
