What you will be doing:

A great opportunity has arisen with the Rehabilitation Department for an Occupation Therapist Level 1/2 on a short term basis at Nepean Hospital.

  • Provide a high quality occupational therapy service to clients and carers, to ensure optimal health outcomes for the clients of the service.
  • Provide person centred clinical advice to clients, carers, families and other health care professionals to ensure delivery of clinical practice models and therapeutic techniques.
  • Ensure client care is delivered within professional, organisational, legal and ethical boundaries and reflects evidence based knowledge and best practice.
  • Exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters and seek direct professional supervision from more senior staff members when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.
  • Select and implement intervention and treatment strategies to address problem areas identified in assessments and to meet goals within specific time frames.
  • Evaluate treatment according to goal achievement in collaboration with senior clinicians, with alterations to intervention made accordingly.
  • Maximise the functional status of the client and carer in the optimum environment and facilitate safe discharge from the service.

Selection Criteria to be addressed:

  • Current registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board AHPRA, and current class C NSW drivers licence or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience and ability to provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention in a variety of clinical areas including acute inpatient setting (Medical / Surgical / Aged Care) and sub-acute rehabilitation setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, including ability to manage routine clinical matters with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication with consumers, teams and agencies, with experience in clinical documentation, formal reporting and clinical handover.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated high level of effective organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of relevant evidence based practice resources to guide decision- making and commitment to quality improvement.
