About the role
The Individual Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Support Services (IPRSS) program supports individuals with mental health issues within a framework of recovery that is focused on strengths and capabilities. IPRSS enables clients to maintain a sustainable, purposeful lifestyle that has meaning and value and supports an active participation in community life, a reduction in social isolation, enhancement of independent living skills, and establishment of positive connections with the community, families and carers.

We are seeking a compassionate, self-motivated Peer Practitioner for a permanent, full time opportunity to work alongside a caring team in the North Adelaide area. You will utilise your unique lens of lived experience of mental health and recovery to provide holistic person-centred, recovery oriented supports to clients to enable achievement of recovery goals, independent living and a purposeful lifestyle.

Key responsibilities
  • Utilise your own lived experience of mental ill health and recovery to inform your work and that of the team.
  • Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.

What you’ll bring
  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Lived experience and willingness to support clients through sharing your own learnings and recovery-orientated practice is required.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
