Where you will be based

The Centre for Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) is the education and training service for Sydney Local Health District (SLHD). CEWD offers over 300 courses per year and has a comprehensive range of both clinical and non-clinical courses and programs using technology to improve access to professional development and to provide high fidelity learning environments. We are a delivery site of the NSW Health RTO which means that we can offer our staff Nationally Recognised qualifications.


About the role

This position will support the development, delivery and evaluation of education strategies relating to the management of acute behavioural disturbances. This will include the development, accreditation and delivery of a nationally recognised qualification as well as other educational resources.

The Project Officer will be the subject matter expert for elements of the programs design. This will reflect their specialised ability to engage consumers with meaningful activities. They will use their extensive knowledge and clinical expertise to ensure person centre care is at the heart of this education strategy. This position is expected to be able to work autonomously, with minimal direct supervision and using independent professional judgement, have high level interpersonal skills, be able to clearly identify and address problems and concerns, have a wide knowledge of current evidence based practice.


We are looking for someone who

  • Holds a bachelor degree in Health Science or Applied Science in Leisure, Recreation or Diversional Therapy and has eligibility for full membership of Diversional and Recreation Therapy Australia or Degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist. Evidence of extensive clinical experience, inclusive of experience as a Level 2 Diversional Therapist or equivalent.

  • Has experience in the provision of current clinical practice, program design and models of care for the management of patients with acute behavioural disturbances.

About working for SLHD

This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2022_030)


All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate.


A third dose is a requirement for Category A positions and booster doses are highly recommended for all other health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
