About the role

John Fawkner Private Hospital is seeking enthusiastic and innovative Physiotherapists to join our team on a casual basis. The successful applicant would be involved in providing physiotherapy services to the acute medical and surgical wards.

John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, an emergency department, 5 operating theatres, 12 bed Critical Care Complex and a busy day surgery/endoscopy unit the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community.

The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and gynaecology.

As a Physiotherapist, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing comprehensive Physiotherapy services to acute surgical inpatients (including orthopaedics, general surgery, cardiac and neurosurgery, and ICU/CCU patients.
• Delivering excellent clinical services related to assessment, treatment, planning and evidence based practice
• Participating in program development and quality improvement activities within the Allied Health Department
• Working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients and their support people
• Discharge planning with the multidisciplinary team and referrals to external services.
• Clinical supervision of physiotherapy and allied health assistant students.

Selection Criteria:

• Bachelor in Physiotherapy or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years acute hospital experience
• Current AHPRA Registration
• Excellent clinical practice skills in assessment and intervention.
• Highly developed communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent organisation and time management skills
• Commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork
• Experience with Orthopaedic and ICU preferred.
• Weekday availability preferred but not essential
