Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Post Graduate Fellow to join our team at Concord Repatriation General Hospital.
We are looking for a Post Graduate Fellow in Colorectal Surgery! The primary purpose of the role of the Post Graduate Fellow in Colorectal Surgery is to provide program of additional training to develop subspecialty interests in Colorectal Surgery, and to further develop core clinical skills required in this area. The Post Graduate Fellow will have completed advanced training to become a specialist medical practitioner in Colorectal Surgery, or have completed specialist training in another discipline relevant to the Fellowship training program.
The Post Graduate Fellow will provide high quality clinical care, diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Colorectal Surgery at the level of a Post Graduate Fellow, and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Colorectal Surgery Department and Concord Repatriation General Hospital as required. They will ensure high standards of professional performance and contribute to an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
The Colorectal Surgery Department is an academic department of the University of Sydney and Fellows are involved in teaching students within the Faculty of Medicine. Fellows are usually assigned to a research project which they are expected to complete within the year. The Department consists of seven colorectal surgeons. There are twelve full day theatre sessions per fortnight consisting of a significant laparoscopic and open colorectal surgical program. There are weekly endoscopic sessions, endoscopic ultrasound and continence clinics. There are approximately 400 major colorectal cases per year including 200 laparoscopic resections, and 300 minor cases.
The Colorectal Surgery Department assists Macquarie University Hospital in ad hoc assisting out of hours, when not at Concord Repatriation General Hospital. Proposed training in the private sector must be approved in advance by the CRGH Director Medical Services.
The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) with recognised qualifications in Colorectal Surgery and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award. (Note: Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship prior to, or within three months of the expected commencement date, may be considered.)
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.
