About The Opportunity
Fairfield Hospital Surgical/Orthopedic Ward 2B are recruiting Registered Nurses to complement and enrich the current nursing team.

Ward 2B is a 26 bed unit which houses elective orthopaedic and surgical patients and is located on the top floor of Fairfield Hospital. Patients admitted to the ward are patients whom usually fall under the following categories.

  • Elective orthopaedic joint replacement surgery
  • Elective Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Elective 23 hour surgery with a focus on laparoscopic surgery
  • Patients undergoing breast surgery for cancer
  • Gynaecological Surgery
  • 8 Acute Post-Operative Beds (APU)
  • Patients with Acute Surgical conditions


What You'll Be Doing
The Registered Nurse will provide safe, compassionate, quality, person centred care and work in collaboration with patients/families/carers and a multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes. Fairfield Hospital is a 220 bed major metropolitan hospital situated in the South West of Sydney approximately 45 minute drive from the Sydney city centre, in one of the most multicultural and diverse communities in Australia. Fairfield Hospital an Australian Council on Healthcare Standards [ACHS] accredited facility. The hospital provides a wide range of hospital and community based health services to the people of Fairfield Local Government Area (LGA). These include:

  • Acute care services in medicine, cardiology, surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics, paediatrics, and emergency medicine
  • Sub-acute care in Geriatrics / Rehabilitation and through the Ambulatory Care Unit in association with Fairfield Community Health Services and Renal Dialysis Unit.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an environment appropriate to the relevant speciality.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based nursing care.
  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
