Summary:
Why do we age? The Karras lab investigates the role of protein folding in age-related disease. We are a collegial and vibrant team of experts in diverse fields of biology working together to decipher mechanisms of aging. Successful candidates will use genetics, functional genomics, biochemistry, cancer biology, and computational biology to develop new tools and discover new therapeutic targets.

Function:
Provides supervision, special training to technical personnel and/or highly technical work in research projects.

Scope:
Impacts cancer research efforts throughout the institution.

Key Functions:

• Constructs, replicates and maintains stocks of plasmid libraries to be employed in high-throughput assays.
• Prepares and conducts lab experiments and records data in accordance with methods requested and confers with superiors regarding results obtained.
• Assembles and operates various laboratory equipment and performs bioinformatic analyses under supervision.
• Ensures the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced.
• Trains students and technical staff

Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree Natural Sciences or related field.

Experience:
Required: 1-2 years of experience in scientific or experimental research work.

Preferred research expertise: Molecular biology; High-throughput DNA cloning; Tissue culture; Yeast genetics; Cell biology/cytometry; Computational biology; Genomics.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33,500.00 - $55,000.00 per year
