The Position

Hawkesbury District Health Service provides inpatient and emergency services to residents of the Hawkesbury and surrounding districts under a public-private partnership with the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

St John of God Hawkesbury Hospital

• Hawkesbury has 131 beds and 4 Operating Theatres
• The Emergency Department sees 30,000 patients per year including a significant number of children
• Patients are admitted under Visiting Medical Officers in General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• The wards are staffed by Accredited and Non Accredited Medical, Surgical and Orthopaedic Registrars, CMOs and RMOs
• ED Specialist Visiting Medical Officers, CMOs and RMOs staff the Emergency Department

We are currently have opportunities for Resident Medical Officers and Career Medical Officers to work in ED and/or inpatient wards (Medical and HDU). These positions will suit junior doctors seeking additional experience prior to entering ED or Medical training programs or experienced doctors seeking long-term CMO positions.

Opportunities are being offered on a full, part time or casual basis. No agency applications will be accepted

The successful candidate will have:

• General registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• A minimum of two (2) years postgraduate experience in relevant clinical settings for RMO positions and four (4) years postgraduate experience for CMO positions.
• Demonstrated clinical and procedural competency in:
  • Assessment and management of surgical and medical patients
  • Venepuncture, venous and arterial cannulations
  • Urinary Catheterisation
  • Independent interpretation of diagnostic pathology, radiology and cardiology tests
  • Basic Life Support
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality management and continuing medical education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Control.
• A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
