Metro Trains Melbourne is currently looking to recruit multiple vacancies for Safeworking Coordinators to support current projects across the Northern & South Eastern Suburbs as part of the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP).
As the Safeworking Co-Ordinator your primary responsibility is for the safeworking planning, implementation, control and the ultimate responsibility of rail safety during track works. The primary purpose of the Safeworking Co-Ordinator is to keep all Rail Safety Worker’s and the worksite safe from rail traffic.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Complete and certify RSWHA’s to determine appropriate protection requirements for the worksite and task.
- Ensure worksite protection personnel are not exposed to hazards.
- Assess the track environment to plan access, egress and the approach for works.
- Maintain effective communication and control of worksite protection personnel, supervisors, signallers, train controllers and drivers.
- Ensure all worksite protection personnel and RSW’s are competent to perform work.
- Ensure all worksite protection personnel are equipped with correct PPE.
- Identification of task based hazards and communication of these to worksite protection personnel
- Functional delivery of rail safety protection with full compliance to MTM safeworking standards.
- Perform risk assessments of processes, work practices, materials, suppliers and innovations to ensure work is delivered as efficiently and safely as possible.
- Review and assess compliance of systems and processes to standards and procedures under guidance from the Stems and Safety Assurance Manager.
About You
The successful candidate will be a qualified TFPC 3.3 (including ASB & Enhanced Lookout Modules) who has:
- Demonstrated minimum 3 years’ experience in Track Force Protection in the rail or related industry
- Inner Suburban Unrestricted competency, First Aid and CPR
- Possess an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, stakeholders, contractors and staff (verbal and written)
- Ability to operate and make effective decisions within a live safety critical environment
