The Government Business Directorate sits within the Office of the Secretary and supports the interface between the Department and our Ministers.
About the role
The Senior Policy and Projects Officer shares their strong understanding of government business and decision-making processes with others, and drives good process, strategic alignment and better advice for effective and transparent decision making by Executives and Ministers.
Essential requirements of the role
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Policy, Political Science, Government or related discipline and/or demonstrated experience working in a public service agency in a policy or government business related area.
Key knowledge and experience
- Dempnstrated and strong experience in policy or government business roles, with good knowledge of machinery of government.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

You are adept at problem solving, and navigating ambiguity and complex issues. You have experience in advising a range of stakeholders on strategic, policy and operational matters. You are a savvy and thoughtful operator, who knows what to do when working under pressure. You like to work on the big picture- whether that is providing strategic insight or improving how we work.
