School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW) is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
The School Security Unit provides a wide range of support services to schools to ensure that their levels of safety and security are maximised. The Unit is also a technical stakeholder which provides specialist advice and support to a wide range of capital works projects, including the construction of new and upgraded schools.
About the role
We are looking for a capable and motivated candidate who will be able to assist schools with the provision of tailored risk management strategies and support capital works projects with advice to minimise risk to safety and security.
To be successful you will have:
- A thorough understanding of security risk management principles
- A drive to keep pace with evolving risk management strategies
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- An ability to network effectively with stakeholders.
Essential requirements of the role
- Driver licence – Class C
- Willingness to travel to various school locations
Key knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

- The role recommends the implementation of risk management principles in the design of new schools which requires acceptance by all stakeholders. Please describe any experiences when you needed to utilise your negotiation skills to gain commitment from a number of stakeholders. How did you complete that task, describing any challenges that you may have faced and how you dealt with those challenges. (300 words maximum)
- Outline your experience with the provision of risk assessment advice in any corporate or business environment. Please describe the risk management principles and guidelines that you may have followed and the benefits that may have been realised by the client. (300 words maximum)
Note: the selection process will include a range of assessment techniques to assist in determining your suitability for the role. Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening for this role which includes a National Criminal History Check.
