The role
Our clients are a family-owned and operated mixed farming business located in the foothills of the Warrumbungle Ranges with predominantly red and chocolate basalt soils, 40 kilometres southwest of Coonabarabran. They are seeking a suitably experienced station hand that is able to work alongside the farm manager to ensure the day-to-day operations run in a smooth and timely manner. A key focus for the next 2 years will be restoring the property to full production, with significant permanent fencing and pasture redevelopment phase. The initial plan during this period will be to run 1000-1500 merino ewes to terminal sires, and 200 breeding cows. It is anticipated that carrying capacity should be able to increase 20-30% once the required fencing program is complete, and pastures are restored. A feral goat harvesting program has been tried, and the aim is to make this a significant and regular part of the properties income This is a hands-on role. Age is not to be seen by possible applicants as a limiting factor.... the client is seeking demonstrated experience in livestock husbandry and general farm maintenance, paddock monitoring, and the capacity to work alone when required.

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant including a salary commensurate with skills and experience, a comfortable open plan home with 3 bedrooms + office, close to Coonabarabran where there is access to a range of schooling options with school bus close by.

The ideal candidate
Integrity, an excellent attitude and work ethic, and experience as outlined above are the key requirements for this position.

• Previous 2/3 years experience in a similar role with a focus on all aspects of livestock health and husbandry
• Previous experience in all other aspects of general farm work including fencing, water and property maintenance.
• Be mechanically minded and able to safely operate and maintain farm machinery and vehicles.
• Good level of record keeping and data entry skills (Agriwebb experience ideal)
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, energetic and ability to use initiative
• Be self-motivated and comfortable spending periods working alone.
• Strive for excellence with a determination to succeed and progress with the business
• Working dogs (essential)
• Chemcert and truck licence an advantage but not essential
