REI is looking for a Software Engineer Intern to contribute to REI’s success by working as part of a cross-functional team and actively participate in day-to-day functions of the IT Platform Integrations Engineering team. Throughout the course of your internship experience, you will own and drive a challenging and relevant project to solve real-time business challenges. Under the supervision of your Manager, and as a key member of the Integrations Engineering team, you will gain insights into the key functions of your team as it relates to REI’s broader strategy and vision.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an amazing community of talented and experienced engineers driving the development of a new Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that aims to deliver rich data and self-service capabilities that enable engineering and streamline the developer experience at REI. With the support of our team, this person will drive the discovery, development, testing, and delivery of a select feature from start to finish and see their work be contributed within the IDP to support the broader REI developer community.
Non-Local Candidates:
Relocation assistance & intern housing are not provided for this role- all costs & arrangements will be the responsibility of the intern for the duration of the internship.
Duration:
- 10- 12 weeks (mid-June – early September)
Job functions include:
- Regularly seeks out help or advice to complete tasks
- Participates in team activities and contributes to discussions
- Work to understand, develop and deliver one or more features to the REI Internal Developer Portal
REI Introduction and Exposure to:

Qualifications and expectations:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree (or recently graduated within 6 months of internship start date) in Computer Science or related field.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming (e.g., Java, Python)
- Familiarity with front-end development languages a plus (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Node)
- Articulate and responsive communication skills
- Proactive and engaged attitude towards learning
- Creative approach to problem solving

As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, REI provides the compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. The pay for this role is: $30.00 per hour.
