The Role
This role is within the Street Cleaning Unit of the Environmental Services Team will be responsible for operating various plant including Street Litter Compactor, Medium Rigid Trucks as well as carrying out manual cleaning utilising hand tools including shovels, blowers and brush cutters.

Salary for a Street Cleaner Support is $62,186 per annum inclusive of any applicable allowances plus statutory superannuation as set out under the Ballarat City Council Enterprise Agreement No. 8, 2019.
The ordinary hours of work for full-time employees employed within the Street Cleaning Unit will be 76 hours per fortnight worked (8.5 ordinary hours with 30 minutes unpaid lunch per day) with one Roster Day off (RDO) per fortnight to be taken at a mutually agreeable time. The spread of hours are between 3.30am to 8.00pm (an early start allowance is paid where applicable).
In addition, staff in this position will be a required to work weekends and public holidays which will be rostered. There is regular overtime offered with applicable penalty rates paid.
About You
This position contributes to ensuring that the high level of amenity and cleanliness of the City is maintained throughout the entire year. The Street Cleaning unit provides a presence 365 days across the City and work to a roster inclusive of weekend and public holiday overtime. Tasks include removing debris, weeds, rubbish, leaves and working with the Sweeper drivers to ensure the City presentation excellence. The Applicant must be prepared to undertake overtime and work as part of a roster on a variable start time.

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence with a Medium Rigid endorsement. Heavy Rigid desirable.
- Experience operating plant and meeting specific service levels or time bound tasks.
- Ability to work to a seven-day roster.
Desirable
- Experience working in a local government or private street cleansing role.
- Experience in working in a team environment involving scheduled and reactive work
Key Selection Criteria
- Qualifications and experience as listed above under Qualifications and Experience.
- Demonstrated ability to champion, model and promote the corporate values.
- Demonstrated experience in an operational, cleaning or a works role operating plant, undertaking manual handling and utilising tools (or relatable experience).
- Demonstrated experience in operating small trucks, sweepers, street vacuums or related plant.
- Demonstrated experience working as a positive member of a team.
- Possess a Victorian Driver’s Licence endorsed to Medium Rigid standard.
- Demonstrated ability to work to a rotating seven-day roster, work regular overtime, procedures, schedules and fill out appropriate daily and weekly forms.
- Demonstrated experience complying with and working to Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
