Position Overview
The Arena Group seeks a Writer/Editor to help us make investing something that's approachable for everyone. We are a small, but mighty newsroom that has recently reached #11 in the business and finance news category. We are looking for people that want to make business news understandable and interesting to a new generation of investors.
The Arena Group's expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $55,000 - $80,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group's total compensation and benefits available to its employees.
Responsibilities
- Write/edit multiple stories per day in high-volume, results-driven newsroom
- Share ideas for stories with the senior editorial team and sometimes pitch in as an editor when other editors are out, or when the queue is backed up
- Potential to manage writers as needs arise or filling in as the slot lead
- Works as part of the lead editorial team driving traffic and audience to TheStreet
- Tracks results on stories in order to inform future coverage decisions
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Demonstrated experience in a Writer/Editor role or similar
- Ability to handle a high volume of stories
- Your own system of organization that enables you to maintain and keep track of multiple concurrent work streams in an atmosphere of tight deadlines and changing priorities
- A reasonable command of AP style
- Solid proficiency in both Google Suite (Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Drive) and their MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) counterparts
- Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, on occasion
