This role sits within our Cultural Services Department, which includes Galleries, Museums, Libraries, Heritage and Arts and Cultural Activation. Cultural Services aim to provide engaging leisure and learning experiences by connecting people to resources and each other. We strive for excellence when delivering exhibitions, information, collections, programs and spaces for our community and visitors. Our department employs approximately 220 staff over 16 venues throughout the region.

About our opportunity

Your responsibilities will include providing library customers with positive service experiences and general assistance in their use of library resources and services. This will include computer usage, internet and library catalogue navigation and self-service options for loans, returns, printing and copying. You will process routine customer loans, returns, reservation requests and payments, update membership records, and assist in the promotion, preparation and delivery of library activities and programs.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a genuine interest in being a positive member of our library team and in providing exceptional service to customers. You will have the technical aptitude to provide basic assistance on public computers and the library catalogue, and the interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and interact with a diverse customer base and a wide range of stakeholders.

You will be able to demonstrate an ability to learn to work with Public Library systems and to utilise your emerging skills to support the delivery of collections, programs and information services.

Location: Casual library assistants may be required to work at all 10 locations including, Albany Creek, Arana Hills, Bribie Island, Burpengary, Caboolture, Deception Bay, North Lakes, Redcliffe, Strathpine and Woodford

Award/Level: Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 1 of the Moreton Bay Regional Council EBA4 Certified Agreement

Remuneration: $38.72 base hourly casual rate
